Prayers of the Faithful

PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL 1

Choose four or six of the following…

  1. Let us pray for N. In baptism he/she died with Christ, may he/she now share in the fullness of his resurrection. Let us pray to the Lord.
  2. God is full of mercy and compassion. May he forgive N. any sins he/she committed through human frailty. Let us pray to the Lord.
  3. For the sorrowing family, relatives and friends of N., that you may find strength and consolation in your Christian faith and in the love and support of this community. Let us pray to the Lord.
  4. We pray for those who mourn N’s death (especially ….); that you may find strength and consolation in the hope we have through the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. Let us pray to the Lord.
  5. God of all consolation, help us to comfort one another in our grief, finding light in time of darkness, and faith in time of doubt. Let us pray to the Lord.
  6. We pray for all those we have loved and have died. Lord give them the reward of their goodness. Let us pray to the Lord. Let us pray to the Lord.
  7. We pray for those who care for the sick and dying, especially those who cared for N. during his/her illness. Let us pray to the Lord.
  8. For all parents who grieve over the death of their children; that they may be comforted in the knowledge that they rest in God. Let us pray to the Lord.
  9. May the prayers of Mary, the Mother of God, who stood by the cross as her son was dying, help those who mourn and be with all of us in our time of need. Let us pray to the Lord.
  10. We pray for those here today, that our memory of N. whom we loved inspire us with a renewed love for all our sisters and brothers. Let us pray to the Lord.
  11. We pray for all of us here today and for all members of our Church; that we may be prepared for the hour of our death, when God will call us by name, to pass from this world to the next. Let us pray to the Lord.
  12. Let us pray for (N) our Holy Father (N) our Bishop and all those who proclaim the consolation of Christ’s death and resurrection to families and communities in sorrow. Increase their faith and make them bearers of lasting and meaningful hope. Let us pray to the Lord.
  13. You knew that your death, O Jesus would mean suffering for your friends; give us the courage to follow God’s way through the mystery of pain throughout the world. Let us pray to the Lord.
  14. God You promised eternal life to all who follow your way; raise up all who have died. We pray especially for N in gratitude for her/his life in family and those with whom she/he came in contact. Let us pray to the Lord.
  15. Now that N has come to the end of her/his earthly journey, may Christ give her/him a place at the banquet of the kingdom of heaven. Let us pray to the Lord.
  16. We pray for N who leaves us in death, that God will bring her/him safely home and share with her/him the joys of the Kingdom of light, happiness and peace. Let us pray to the Lord.
  17. We pray for all who mourn N; they may be assured of Christ’s closeness to them in their sorrow and find strength and comfort through their faith in Jesus our risen Saviour Let us pray to the Lord.
  18. Let us pray that the emptiness of our lives may be gradually filled with peace and hope which Christ’s Resurrection gives to each of us, we pray. Let us pray to the Lord.
  19. As we reflect on the contribution of N to her/his family, friends and the wider community let us remember her/him with affection. May we strive for perfection in the service of Christ, his Church and the community in general. Let us pray to the Lord.
  20. We pray for N, that God the Father will lead home and share with her/him the joys of the Kingdom – light, happiness and peace. Let us pray to the Lord.
  21. For the deceased members of the (N) Family God our Father, you have gathered us all into the family of your love. We pray for the deceased members of the (N) family (or (N) and (N) families). We remember especially her/his deceased parents (N) sons and daughters (N) brothers and sisters (N) others (N) May the light of Christ shine on them. Let us pray to the Lord.
  22. Let us pray in thanksgiving for those who tended to N her/his illness; (Doctors, nurses, medical staff, carers, home help personnel); Lord we thank you for the gifts you have given them and ask you to bless them. Let us pray to the Lord.
  23. For all of us gathered here: that we may remember at all times, but especially in times of trouble and anxiety, that we are loved by You, God and that You will take care of us. Let us pray to the Lord.
  24. Let us pray for those who cannot be here today, especially N. We present to the Lord their grieving, their mourning and their desire to be here. Let us pray to the Lord.
  25. As we pray for N let us remember all the deceased, those we have loved and cherished; all the dead of this parish; those who died recently and all those who have no one remember them. May you, O God, welcome them into the radiant light of your presence. Let us pray to the Lord.

 

PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL 2

  1. In Baptism N was given the promise of eternal life. May she/he now be admitted to the company to the company of the saints. Let us pray to the Lord.
  2. For the Family of N: in these challenging and dark days they may be sustained by their faith, and by the knowledge that they will be united with N one day in God’s heavenly kingdom. Let us pray to the Lord.
  3. For all here present: for your help and strength over the last few days that our remembrance of N may be a source of comfort and strength to us. Let us pray to the Lord.
  4. The gift of life, which we all share, is very precious. Lord, make us more aware of the gifts and talents that you have given us, especially those that we often take for granted. May we use them to make the world a better place. Let us pray to the Lord.
  5. We pray for the tremendous medical teams and nursing staff in , That took such good care of N in the last day of his life. Let us pray to the Lord.
  6. has finally reached the shore of eternity: now that all his/her earthly tasks are complete, may he /she enjoy rest from all his/her labours. Let us pray to the Lord.
  7. N fought the good fight: he /she finished the race: he /she kept the faith: may he /she now receive form Christ the crown of eternal glory which he won for us with his death and Resurrection. Let us pray to the Lord.
  8. That the hardship and suffering N. endured in this life may gain for her/ him full remission for their sins. Let us pray to the Lord.
  9. For those that morn over his/her death: that through their faith in Christ their sorrow may soon be eased. Let us pray to the Lord.
  10. For all those that cared for N. in their old age: that the Lord may reward them for their kindness and patience. Let us pray to the Lord.
  11. For all those that knew and loved N. that they may draw inspiration from his/her life. Let us pray to the Lord.
  12. N shared in the passion of Christ: may he/she now share in his risen glory. Let us pray to the Lord.
  13. May the suffering by which N was experienced, purify him/her from all stain of sin. Let us pray to the Lord.
  14. For those who mourn N death: that they may be comforted by the knowledge that, after all his pain he is now at peace. Let us pray to the Lord. Let us pray to the Lord.
  15. For those that work for the sick and suffering particularly the staff of the N Hospital, that they may have a kind heart and gentle hand. Let us pray to the Lord. Let us pray to the Lord.
  16. For all that suffer: that they may bear their pain with Christ like love and patience. Let us pray to the Lord.
  17. For all here present; that they may remember that we suffer in this life can never be compared to the glory which is waiting for us in the next life. Let us pray to the Lord.
  18. In baptism N. received the light of Christ. Scatter the darkness now and lead him/her over the waters of death. Let us pray to the Lord.
  19. Our brother N. was nourished at the table of the Saviour. Welcome him/her into the halls of the heavenly banquet. Let us pray to the Lord.
  20. Many friends and members of our families have gone before us and await the kingdom. Grant them an everlasting home with your Son. Let us pray to the Lord.
  21. Many people die by violence, war, and famine each day. Show your mercy to those who suffer so unjustly these sins against your love, and gather them to the eternal kingdom of peace. Let us pray to the Lord.
  22. Those who trusted in the Lord now sleep in the Lord. Give refreshment, rest, and peace to all whose faith is known to you alone. Let us pray to the Lord.
  23. The family and friends of N. seek comfort and consolation. Heal their pain and dispel the darkness and doubt that come from grief. Let us pray to the Lord.
  24. We are assembled here in faith and confidence to pray for our brother/sister N. Strengthen our hope so that we may live in the expectation of your Son’s coming. Let us pray to the Lord.
  25. For our brother/sister who ate the body of Christ, the bread of life, that he/she may be raised up on the last day. Let us pray to the Lord.
  26. For our deceased relatives and friends and for all who have helped us, that they may have the reward of their goodness. Let us pray to the Lord.
  27. For those who have fallen asleep in the hope of rising again, that they may see God face to face. Let us pray to the Lord.
  28. For the family and friends of our brother/sister N., that they may be consoled in their grief by the Lord, who wept at the death of his friend Lazarus. Let us pray to the Lord.
  29. For all of us assembled here to worship in faith, that we may be gathered together again in God’s kingdom. Let us pray to the Lord.
